"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What is the action plan you have in mind? - This determines the ROI.

If you are planning to convert existing Physical desktops with XP to Window 7 VDI, then you can involve the cost of new hardware Vs VDI server hardware cost

This can be projected for a period of 5 years, with the Annual maintenance cost in mind.

if you are planning for Thinclient, you can use the existing physical hardware with Windows Thin PC and show that projection.

You can have HP thinclients, which look like a laptop and show projection saying that we can give this thinclient for Work from home also. This will reduce laptop cost and the data is secure.

The above are few points. If you need further information, please let me know about the entire infra details like below

1. No. of users & physical desktops
2. No. of XP machines and Windows 7 m/c
3. Rack space availability in Datacenter
4. Type of VDI solution you are looking for
5. Server hardware availability for Virtualization

I can suggest you with one, if you are convinced with the above suggestion.

We have 5000 users all xp users now.
Wer going for citrix xendesktop and xenapp..any new pc requests or replacement pc we will give new thin client device..existing pc we would lock down os and load zero client..so we can use existing pc

We need to buy new server to host vm for vdi..total 4 chassis of IBM flex spread across 2 dc
Can any desktop support resource cost and energy saving can be added?
