Hi does anyone know a script/little application we could use that would achieve the following
-allow the selection of a user mailbox (by querying available mailboxes on the exchange server)
-choose another user mailbox again by the same query of available users and set a forward to this mailbox
-provide the option to schedule this process for a set time (so for example if a staff member will be off on say 25/10/13, create a scheduled task on exchange to create the forward on this day)
-provide the option to disable the forward on another set day (i.e. another scheduled task)

and then as a nice bonus the option to query all mailboxes and their current forwarding status and display in a nice table etc

Hi Active8it,

you can easily set forwarding using the Management Shell.
Use the command:

Set-Mailbox -Identity "username" -ForwardingAddress "any mail address"

You can put this command in a ps1 script and run it from a scheduled task.
Of course you can also use an excel file with one row the identity and the forward adress and this way proces a batch.

To see which mailboxes in your organisation have forwarding set, simply run:

Get-Mailbox | Where {$_.ForwardingAddress -ne $null} | Select Name, PrimarySMTPAddress, ForwardingAddress, DeliverToMailboxAndForward

Hope this helps!
