Persistent vs. non-persistent desktop on Citrix XD7

Hi People,

Can anyone please explain and clarify what is the different between persistent desktop and the non-persistent desktop VM deployed by Citrix XenDesktop7 either through PVS or MCS ?

What I need to deploy is approximately 50-75 desktop for all of the user during the disaster recovery, with the following requirements:

1. Those users logged in to each of their own desktop environment (Windows XP SP3)
2. Their respective application is delivered through Delivery Controller server role (since no more XenApp).
3. User home directory and the profiles is saved on the separate location in the CIFS share file server rather than the VM C:\ drive local disk.

so with those requirements, is it a persistent or non persistent virtual desktop that I need to deploy using either PVS or MCS ?

Since all your applications are coming from Xenapp and if you are sure that additional installation is not required by users, please go with Non-Persistent VDI

Since the count is very less, you can go with MCS pooled VDIs, instead of PVS.

Please check the below link, wherein I have given the detail for MCS/PVS based solution.

Take a look at this article as it nicely illustrates the difference between presistent and non-persistent VDI's.

Cool, so in this case MCS pooled non-persistent VDI should be simpler to be managed.
Thanks man !
