"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can call the Log file number like this...

 exec sp_readerrorlog 1

1 being the 1st log file.

Here is an SP that will give you "query" ability as well..

Hi ,

1. You can also query in query analyzer as given below :

exec sp_readerrorlog

2. If you want detail information you can open error lo g file in notepad in your default location:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQL2008\MSSQL\LOG

OR

C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQL2008\MSSQL\LOG
