GroupWise 2012 email server backup software or options

What is the best and cheapest solution to backup the post office and domain? I'm looking at the Gwava solutions but I'm open to other options.

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

At this link: http://www.novell.com/products/openenterpriseserver/partners.html

is a list of certified compatible vendors.  It's all the vendors, you need to sort out the backup providers.

While the GWAVA product would likely be my first choice, there are several other backup products that support use of the Novell supplied GroupWise Target Service Agent (TSAFSGW) for making backups.  I've heard very good things about the SyncSort product.

Can the SyncSort archive emails also or will I need two backup products?

Backup and Mail Archiving are two very different things, and so generally  two different products are required.

Newly released Acronis True Image 2019

Are you saying SyncSort does not archive and if so what is your number 1 archive choice.

BudDurlandDirector of ITCommented:
Please keep in mind that when referring to e-mail, "archive" refers to a system that retains a copy of all incoming and outgoing mail traffic, for a lengthy period of time.  This different than a "backup" which is a snapshot of the mail store at a given moment.  "Archives" are generally used for legal compliance & discovery, since messages are not affected by the user deleting mail from their inbox.

I cannot say for sure that Syncsort does not do archiving, I just didn't see anything on their website that led me to beleive that they do.  It would be best to contact them and find out.  We are currently using MailArchiva (http://www.mailarchiva.com) for our mail archiving needs, and it's working quite well.

Looks like the product works on windows servers and Linux. I already use the gwava spam filter. Do you have any experience with this product and how it compares with mailarchiva both in features and cost?

Retain Archiving provides multi-platform unified message archiving, eDiscovery and publishing for organizations looking to reduce costs, manage complexity and mitigate risk on-prem or in the cloud.

I do not have any experience with it, but because it's a Gwava product, I would have a lot of faith that it is a good product.
