Windows 8 Update issue

I am trying to find a tool that is free that will enable me to repair my installation of windows 8.  I cant do the in build refresh as it says there are some files missing and I need the installation media.

I Have inserted the media but no joy.  I also cant access the store.

Any ideas?

Are you running this an administrator?  You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to do a repair install of Windows 8.

Head over to the EightForums for a guided walkthrough, that includes ISO links if you want to try using something other than your original media.
If Refresh will not work (I have used Refresh myself), then you need to get Recovery DVD's from the computer manufacturer to reinstall Windows.

If possible, you can get Ultimate Boot CD, boot and recover your data onto a USB key. Alternately, put the drive in a carrier and recover the data on another computer.

Then proceed with Recovery DVD's and reimage the machine.  There may be a charge for recovery DVD's but it should be modest.

Thanks for this,  however I can confirm that I am running as a admin,  however it appears my windows is corrupted hence the repair I need.

I know I can reinstall windows I don't want to have to do this only as a last resort.

@ProjNet - I know Refresh is a last resort option but that was really all the only option here.  Thanks.
