Can't add new drives to PERC 5/i RAID10 array > Reconfigure option not available

I put 4 new SAS drives into our Dell 2600 box (they're showing up as "ready" status) and I want to add them to the existing 4 drive RAID10 array but the "reconfigure" option isn't available in OpenManage (see screen shot).

What do I have to do to add the 4 new drives to the existing 4-drive RAID10 array?

PS. OpenManage v7.3.0. PERC firmware 5.2.2-0072. Driver version  Baseboard 2.05.00.

It is a limitation of the PERC 5 controller, you can't expand RAID 10, 1 or 50 only RAID 0 & 5.  Only option is to backup the contents, recreate the larger RAID 10 and restore the data.

Man, that's really weak.  Is it 2001?  What RAID controller can't expand a RAID10 array?  Oh, mine.  Dang.

Can PERC 5 convert RAID 10 to RAID 5 wo/downtime?  Like on the fly?

Thanks so much.

The PERC5 simply doesn't have this capability.  It is a low-end controller.

"Can PERC 5 convert RAID 10 to RAID 5 wo/downtime?"

You cannot convert TO OR FROM a nested RAID level on the older PERC's.
