Designing and Implementing Mobile Web Application

Hello there,

I want to design and implement a mobile web application using JQuery mobile and J2EE technology. The application will consists of salesperson using the mobile device to take order when they visit the customers.So the application will contain complex Business Logics. I am confused as to with what frameworks should I pick/select to design and implement the server side of the application. So my question is should I use Spring,Spring MVC and Hibernate together or some other suggestion. But I want to stick to Java technology as I am comfortable with it. My next question is how will the JQuery mobile and the server side integrate with each other. I mean what are the ways/methods to integrate them.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I would generaly recommend:
http://phonegap.com/
as the framework, but I don't have experience integrating java.

There is no conflict. I think you could benefit from the native app approach.

But, ok, I was ignoring the part "the server side of the application" of your question, sorry for that. What came to mind is struts (http://struts.apache.org/) , but, as mentioned, java is not my world. Maybe someone else will help here with more experience than me.

Your best bet is to use java/spring to make your rest api's for Create/Read/Update/Delete's. Then use jquery for ajax calls to the api.

Let's say you have an endpoint mysite.com/api/new

http://api.jquery.com/jQuery.ajax/
$.ajax({
   url: http://mysite.com/api/new,
   xhrFields: {
      withCredentials: true
   }
});

Open in new window

If your app is pure native, you would make a call like this in your native code.  This example is for using an html5 webview.  Because you are using jquery mobile, I am assuming this is what you are doing.
