How to configure autodiscover record for exchange 2007?

This is a planning to setup MS Exchange 2007 server. All the required DNS records - A, MX, had already decided and registered. However, we think the autodiscover record has been missed out. I heard that a autodiscover SRV record has to be created as well. How should i create?

thanks.

Below should be the setting for SRV record:

Name or Domain
Service: _autodiscover
Protocol: _tcp
Priority: 0
Weight: 0
Port Number: 443
HostName:

If SRV record is not possible to create then you can use a CName record.

Yes, you need an SRV record. Any reason you are going for 2007 and not 2010 or 2013?

No special reason to use 2k7

I would recommend 2010 if you can. It has a lot of fixes for generally difficult to accomplish tasks in 2007. Including autodiscover. It only needs A records in 2010 :)

What kind of certificate do you have?
If it is a SAN/UC certificate then you can include Autodiscover.example.com in the certificate and off you go.
If not, then you need the SRV records, which need to be in your external DNS, not internal.

There is NO DIFFERENCE between Exchange 2010 and 2007 in the behaviour of Autodiscover. It works the same for both versions.

You don't even need A records for Exchange 2013 - that will also support SRV records.
The Autodiscover service does not need to be enabled or configured anywhere. It is part of the default installation of the CAS role and requires no further configuration in a standard installation.
