datastores not attached to all hosts

Can anyone elaborate on the risk of a datastore not being attached to all hosts in a cluster?

And secondly, are there any genuine reasons why you wouldnt join a datastore to all hosts in a cluster? In this case the database store houses veeam related VM's. Not sure if that influences such a design?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If a datastore is not attached to all hosts, you will not be able to use

VMware vMotion
VMware HA
VMware DRS
VMware FT

Poor design, and someone forgot!

All hosts in a cluster should be identical, and attache to the same datastores.
