Recover single mailbox without using RSG in EXhcange 2003

I'm trying to recover a mailbox from NT backup of exchange server. Is there any other way to recover without setting up RSG? RSG doesn't recognize network share to be set up, which is another problem.

I think I have to use RSG anyway. I have done this long time ago, but it was just restoring the mailbox to overwrite the existing one.
Now the mailbox I'm trying to recover has emails and others being used. I have to merge the recovered emails from backup to the mailbox with the same user's mailbox.
What are the steps to merge emails and contacts from backup to the same mailbox which already have most recent items?
When I restore backup using NTBackup to RSG, I can't remember if it automatically restores to RSG or to First Storage Group. Is there an option to select it during restore to make sure I'm restoring to RSG not FSG?
I selected database to recover as the current one since that's the only one it shows. It doesn't mean it's actually restoring database from NTbackup to current database of FSG, isn't it?

Then, I ran NTbackup to restore and it doesn't give option to select RSG or FSG. As I remember, NTBACKUP automatically selects RSG to restore???
