sort a list alphabetically?

I use text edit for my tables and lists.
How can I sort my lists and tables alphabetically?

Sometimes I have to add to the list or table.
I would like to be able to do this too . . .

My Mac is Version 10.5.8

I look forward to your advice.

You can't do it in textedit.  You would need to put it in another program.  One option is to use google drive spreadsheet.

1) Go to google drive https://drive.google.com

2) Click the red Create Button and choose Spreadsheet

3) Type your list in column A, one entry per row

4) Select your column (A), on the drive menu, select Data > Sort

5) Copy your sorted data and paste to your textedit document.
Another option (free) is open office, they have a good spreadsheet app called calc. It's not run by Apache.

Try it out, it's 32bit so hopefully it will run on 10.5
If it doesn't try one of the older build still available for download.

Last, if you have an icloud account apple also published NUMBERS on the web for free.
