Split-DNS issue

We have a Split-DNS setup and we just created a new external website that redirects www.domain.com to domain.com and every page after that shows http://domain.com/... .  I have an A record pointing www to the external IP however when an internal client tries to reach the site it redirects to domain.com and it appears to read the internal dns of domain.com which is our internal dns server that hosts the domain and we get a page not found.  Our old web site worked fine because they used the full www.domain.com on every page and link.  Is there a way to resolve without trying to re-configure the entire dns?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.
