"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

if you open up the .eml file using Outlook 2010, are you able to see the SEND button on the top?

The files are in .msg format I need to convert or save them as .eml files.

The verb "send" doesn't really apply, as .eml and .msg are storage (file) formats.

Make sure the .msg file is NOT stored as Unicode (which is the default). If you open the file, and Save As, you'll have the option to store as "Outlook Message Format - .msg". If you change the extension to .eml, it should work. This step can be automated by creating a VBA macro.

Hi Southmod/Qlemo,

My apologies for not getting back to you, I didn't receive notification of the 'Qlemo' response via email hence I didn't return to the question. I do you believe yourself 'Southmod' and 'Qlemo' deserve and explanation though for the points raised.

I awarded the points to Qlemo solution because it seemed it was the mostly explanation that would work. The origin of the problem came from my workplace (I provide Tech Support for a UTM solution), I was trying to get a user (client) to send me a spam email in .eml format so we could diagnose the headers and submit to spamcop.net if necessary.  I suggested the solutions that 'Qlemo' mentioned other than the a VBA solution to the user (client). The user (client) never bothered responding (Despite my repeated attempts to contact them) and I got a response about 6 weeks later saying the case could be closed and they would ignore the spam message unless it occurred again.  After that when I got onto 'experts-exchange' next I closed the query and awarded points were I deemed appropriate.

I do apologize for any frustration I have caused experts here and for any violations of the 'Terms of Use' I have commited.

Thank you.

An *.eml can be sent easily.  Go to the *.eml you wish to send and save it.  Once you save it just rename it as xxxxxx.mtl

That will allow you to send it.

As I said ii is easy.
