Hi,

I have a HTC one, I am using stock email app to setup my company's email, gmail hosts our company email.  If I use IMAP, I can get all the email fine.  But if I use pop, if outlooks gets it first, my phone wont, vice versa.  Any ideas?

thx

If you use POP3 on Outlook, and (you must) use IMAP on the smart phone, then you need to go to Outlook settings, Advanced Settings and check (select) the setting that says "Leave Mail on the Server".  Once you do that, mail will stay on the server and you can then get email on the smart phone.

This works. I use this method myself with my iPhone.

You need to go to IMAP regularly and remove mail you do not want. When you do that, the mail will be in Outlook (does not disappear) but the mail will go away from your smart phone (no longer on server).

We are required to check "Leave Mail on the Server" in Outlook.  It just does not make sense that with pop3, the email email does not get delivered to the phone.  thx

If the email is sitting in IMAP at the email server (that is, you can access email via IMAP without your phone), then the issue appears to be with the settings in the phone.

Make sure in the Mail Account settings on the phone that the host name points to the server where IMAP is. Make sure the phone uses IMAP. My iPhone automatically used IMAP, but it may be a selection when you set up the account.

Try deleting the phone email account, make sure of the Outlook setting to Leave Mail on the Server, check IMAP to make sure the mail is there. Then set up a new phone email account, make sure it is IMAP and make sure it points to the correct setting.

I did this with Blackberry and then with iPhone and it has always worked.
