Server Hardware & Software Upgradation
Hi,
We are planning to upgrade our server hardwares and softwares.
Currently we are using HP DL 380 G6 server hardwares.
Windows 2008 standard is the operating system. Exchange 2007 & SQL 2008 are the softwares installed on the servers.
I would like to use Blade servers with HyperV. I want to have Primary and Backup DC's also want to have Clustering on Exchange and SQL. Can somebody suggest the best hardware & software for the upgradation. We got 70 Exchange and SQL users.
One of our supplier suggested to go for Dell PE M1000e Blade Enclosure with PowerEdge M820 Blade Server. Is it suitable for my setup? which are the similar models from HP & Cisco?
Waiting for your valuable reply..
Thanks in Advance.

And now for a sensible reply...
Have you considered upgrading to cloud servers? Granted you pay for the service but this can be more much more cost effective over time given that as soon as you buy hardware it is effectively out of date so it is depreciating in value from day 1.
A significant bonus is that hardware failure is effectively eliminated, subject to your cloud configuration.
The whole headache of scheduling upgrades is taken away from you - hardware upgrades like HD and RAM can be made immediately and take only moments and best of all, without downtime.
For the last 4 years I moved form physical servers to cloud servers at RackSpace (http://www.rackspace.com/cloud/servers/) which has reduced my annual hosting bill by 83%.
I have complete control as if I had the hardware next to me but now I also have an excellent 24/7 support that I didn't have before.
But you could also consider running an SAAS configuration removing several more headaches while enhancing your user experience.
