keyboard macro that runs unattended

I need to find a keyboard macro that will run even if I am not signed on to the computer.   The computer will be turned on, but I may be logged off.   After purchasing several packages that say they run unattended, I've found out that no matter what you still need to be signed on to the computer for the macro to run.

Does anyone know of a low cost keyboard macro program that will run unattended (without me being signed on) and can be scheduled to run automatically at a certain time each day.

Hi Cindy,
I'm a big fan of AutoHotkey (AHK), an excellent (free!) keyboard macro product, as well as a superb programming/scripting language. There have been several forks of the original language and my preferred one now is AutoHotkey_L. It comes with a compiler that turns the AHK source code (plain text) into a stand-alone/no-install executable (an EXE file).

There is good documentation:
http://l.autohotkey.net/docs/

...including an alphabetical command and function index:
http://l.autohotkey.net/docs/commands/index.htm

...a decent tutorial:
http://l.autohotkey.net/docs/Tutorial.htm

...and an active user forum:
http://www.autohotkey.com/board/

At that user forum, there was a very interesting thread last year, "Will a script run without a user logged in":
http://www.autohotkey.com/board/topic/86851-will-a-script-run-without-a-user-logged-in/

I read the entire thread, including some linked articles, and it's not clear to me if you'll be able to achieve what you want, but I think it's a worthwhile read for you. Regards, Joe

Thanks Joe...  does this actually capture the keystrokes as you do them (ie open excel) or do you have to program the macro?  I'd like to find something that just captures the actual keystrokes that I do.

Didn't realize you were looking for a recorder, too. It's not built into AHK, but for that capability, I suggest reading this topic:
http://www.autohotkey.com/board/topic/79763-macro-creator-v384-automation-tool-recorder-writer/

Also, note the link to Pulover's own page:

You may also want to google "autohotkey macro recorder", as there have been other efforts at it. Regards, Joe
