Windos 8.1 Preview - upgrading to 8.1 (Cannot remove 8.1 Preview)

Have a Windows 8 Pro 64-bit laptop that upgraded to the 8.1 Preview.  Cannot upgrade to 8.1 directly which is fine, however cannot remove the 8.1 Preview.  It tells me the system is missing files in order to recover the system and to insert the Windows 8 DVD.  Which is the same Windows 8 Pro 64-bit upgrade DVD used to install Windows 8.  Tells me invalid disc.  Do I have to start with clean OS install, or is there a fix?

I put the Windows 8.1 Preview on a test machine and Microsoft did say at that time that there was a risk the Preview could not be uninstalled.

So if the original DVD is now invalid (because of upgrading to 8.1 Preview) then I believe you will have to do a fresh install.

Assuming you do this, there are a lot of driver and other application updates out for Windows 8.1 in the last 30 days, so be sure to update all drivers and any other apps you have prior to installing Windows 8.1
