Check under Apple Menu > About this Mac > More Info > System Report > Hardware > Bluetooth

Have you had the Mac apart at any time? Any chance the bluetooth card has come loose or the antenna wire disconnected?

Is wireless working? I think bluetooth and wireless are in the same card.
