Hyper-V to VMWare

I'm doing a migration.  My hosts are ESXi and my servers are physical.  I think I have the P2V down (VMWare converter) but I was thrown a curve this AM when I discovered that one of my Physicals is actually Server 08 with Hyper-V and four virtuals on it.

Best way to get those four Hyper-V virtuals over to VMWare?  How am I going to make this happen?

Hi,

same thing really.

Shut down the HyperV VMs not the host
In VMConverter select the appropriate option as a source (HyperV server)
Then point the source server to the HyperV host and provide credentials.
After VMConverter agent is installed on the host you are able to select the VMs and convert them to VMWare.

Here is a vid that shows the process: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wN47t9Vc37w

Only catch is VMWare converter agent can't be autoinstalled on a core serverm, you have to manually install it.

Best regards

It Is not possible to enable LLDP in vSwitch(at least is not supported by VMware), so in this article we will enable this, and also go trough how to enabled CDP and how to get this information in vSwitches and also in vDS.
Will try to explain how to use the VMware feature TAGs in the VMs and create Veeam Backup Jobs using TAGs. Since this article is too long, I will create second article for the Veeam tasks.
