With a web page?  That would require the browser to access the file system which would be a huge security hole.

You might be able to do it with an hta, but not a normal web page.

I understand the security issue.  But the site I am copying data from is trusted.  I thought I would be able to set the security in the browser to allow access to the clipboard.  Then when we are done working on the site reset the security to normal. Is this possible?

No. I have seen some strange and unsafe thing done with activeX, but I have not seen one where it can do what you describe. There might be some control like that around.

If you need the data on file, you might try going server to server and transfering that way, as long as the target site co-operates by not blocking you. On your server you should be able to save the data anyway you want; though you might need to do some parsing depending on the format.
