DOS share

We have this clients that has this old CNC machine that runs DOS 6.22. They want to be able to put files on there through a Windows share. We figured out how to run the services in dos and the network card works fine and all. However we cannot access the share to Dos or access the share from Dos to Windows.

We get errors like

- The specified network name is no longer available
- Error 53 The computer name specified in the network path cannot be located

We can ping both machines by IP and name.

Is this still even possible? Do DOS shares still work with server 2011 this day and age?

You should be able to do this if the networking components are installed.  However, you need something to create a SMB share, such as Windows For Workgroups 3.11.
