Suspect our DB servers are not allowed Internet access (as DB
are supposed to be in secure zone), my DBA colleague got the
attached exception error during SQL2012 installation.

How do we workaround this without granting Internet access?

Pls point me to the exact URL / links to download the required
Service Packs / patches to address this?  I'm running
Win2012 DC edition in VM

Just a guess, but I imagine that you can either:
1) Point the DB server to WSUS for update delivery, so that it can get updates without accessing the internet, OR
2) Just ignore the error and patch manually where necessary

The error won't prevent you installing SQL Server 2012.
