Migrating mailboxes to exhange 2013

Migrating to exchange 2013 has been a nightmare compared to migrating to 2010 from 2003.

Here's my problem. After a successful migration from exchange 2003 to 2010 start the next migration to 2013. Successfully installed all aspects of 2013 and it is up to date on all patches/rollups etc.

So started testing. Migrated a test mailbox to the new database, worked great. First problem was I could receive email but not send to either internal or external address. After a long search found that several of my services wouldn't start upon a startup/reboot of server which is still an issue. After manually starting services was able to send email successfully. Great next test. Move a live mailbox. so I attempted to move my mailbox. No joy it just sits there in syncing (over 24 hours). Stopped migration, no problem. Attempted again using a higher baditem count etc. same results. Hmmmmm, tried two other test mailboxes. Same results.

What I've done so far; Search, Search and more searching and not finding much in what to check for.

Trying to get this rolled out by EOY bu that's not looking like it's going to happen.

Thanks, Richard.

Hi Richard

Sorry to hear of your woes.

Can you list for me the servers and their roles in your Exchange environment please?

Thanks
Mark

Any ideas? I'm continuing to look at different articles but so far nothing. I've found other articles with the same situation. First mailbox moved fine but nothing after that. I've tried in the EAC and using PS. Under PS when I get the statistics it shows that they never get out of the queue state.

OK, finally got the migration to work and mailbox user to connect. It took a couple of calls to Microsoft but it's almost done. I'm now migrating mailboxes without any problems and except for a minor configuration change on our Outlook 2010 clients they are able to connect to their mailboxes.

Thank you for your support.

I'm awarding points based on your attempt to help me. There was some good information that you gave me but ultimately I had to go to Microsoft for the answer.

I really am not wanting to award points to myself as I didn't really do anything but I don't see a way of changing the points.
