Does PST export-import with Outlook 2010 keep Contact category setting?

I have a user whose mailbox was exported to PST using Outlook 2010. His mailbox was then moved to another mailstore in Exchange 2007. When he imported his PST back into his mailbox, the categories set on his Contacts were wiped.

Any way to get those categories back?

if you are talking about categories by colors then there is a way to back them up but it is not stored with the PST files...I have added a link to show how this is done. If you still have access to the outlook profile that it was setup with then you should be able to go export them.

This article explains how to backup the categories themselves. What I am trying to figure out is how to import my Contacts, from PST, with the category set. Right now when i imported them, the category on each contract was cleared.

Correct this information does not get exported when you export to PST you need to perform a separate backup of the categories by fallowing the procedure outlined in the article.
