have a client with a windows 2000 server on old HW and legacy application that they use to run the company with no media to re-install the app<br />
will be moving off it within a year but in the meantime need it running for current and historical data<br />
looking for best way to get the server upgraded to newer HW and to new Windows server OS<br />
been searching but haven't seen this scenario quite yet<br />
was thinking of getting a backup via something like storagecraft and doing something along those lines and trying to upgrade via hyper-v???<br />

Windows 2000 is an operating system for use on both client and server computers. It is the successor to Windows NT 4.0, and is the last version of Microsoft Windows to display the "Windows NT" designation. Four editions of Windows 2000 were released (Professional, Server, Advanced Server, and Datacenter Server) that shared a core set of features, including many system utilities such as the Microsoft Management Console.
