Need a NAS device for backup image storage for several servers. The backups are made using storage craft shadow protect server.

I am considering a Drobo B800 FS which is the newer business edition hardware and I am also considering a rack mount symbology and a Dell NAS.

I need 2 units and replication between the 2.

The Drobo is the least cost then Synology then Dell.

Cost is a concern but we need something dependable and reliable.

Primary use is a backup target.

Hi there,

If cost is a consideration then I suggest going to Synology or QNAP. Both of these units can do what the Drobo can do and more. You can schedule backups, replication and rely on these  units for stability. Should you get more in the budget later, both are expandable to add additional units to the network.

I use Synology 1812 for ISCSI connections on a VMWare platform and it works awesome.
I use QNAP 879Pro for Backup Exec to disk.

Hope this helps.
