I have several SUP32's that are needing to be factory reset. I am currently able to get into ROM to issue confreg 0x2102 and have it reset however after that point I have been unable to access config t. If possible could I get a full read out of the command steps to make sure I didn't forget a step. Thank you.

The configuration register needs to be set to 0x2142.

Then after the reload, do an "erase start", set the configuration register back to 0x2102 and reload again.

That's it.

Yep, either set the config-register to 0x2142 or choose the option to ignore the current config (which will set the config-register to 0x2142 automatically)

These are the commands for config I did use; however they systems still loaded prior clients boot flash as after setting config to 0x2142.

Try it again and this time save the session log and post it here (use the "code" function or attach it ) please.

You must be missing a step because this is a fairly straightforward process.

Here is the code and I figured out what I was simply doing wrong.
I was entering the BREAK command to soon, I had the system boot and walked away came back and forgot to access ROMMON and enterd BREAK as fthe follwoing code shows after 00:00:08: %OIR-SP-6-CONSOLE: Changing console ownership to route processor got it to bypadd the bootflash.
So Simply put my timing of entering commands were incorrect. If so, then what CONFREG was I modifying in the first code, the Chassis?

Normally, when you erase the startup config and reload the router it should come back with no conifg on board.  It looks like this is not working as expected.

Also, after you have erased the startup config (erase start), try "show start" to be sure it is gone before you reload and you reload.  If the device prompts you to save during reload, make sure you don't save.

If you have a second sup engine in the device, take it out before you try this operation.

Thanks all the input but I discovered that some of the systems were running CatOS in which I was unfamiliar with its command structure.

My comment was a solution due to the fact of incorrect timing of the BREAK command caused ROMMON to be loaded at the wrong time to change the config to 0x2142.
