I have never used vmconverter, but have a rough idea of what it does

Is vmconverter simply a client app, or does it have both a client and a server app ?

Thanks

VMware Converter is a client application. It can:

1. Convert one VM to another VM (which I have done).
2. Convert a physical machine to a VM (which I have see done but not done myself.).

Once converted, you do not use VM Converter any more for that machine. You use VMware Workstation or counterpart to open and run the converted VM.
