Dear EE experts,

We would like to ask for tech support on how to fix or resolve the email problem of on of our user here. Everytime she receives email that the sender uses Plain text in format, the message isn't displaying on the reading pane, you won't see any message, only just plain blank white without anything on it. But if the sender used HTML format in sending the mail, and she received it, she can read the message... But with other users, who are receiving the same mail, they're receiving it without any problem, even the sender used Plain text format...

Hi,
as it seems to be related to the reading pane, please try the following:

close outlook and rename the file C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FORMS\FRMCACHE.DAT to FRMCACHE.OLD

then start Outlook again and check if it solved the problem.

If not, try to run outlook using the command line switch "outlook.exe /cleanviews" (ATTENTION: this will reset ALL your Outlook views back to default - so if you've for example added custom rows to be displayed, filters applied etc. you will lose it)

Hi,

the next thing I'd try out is to create a new Outlook profile for the user.
In addition, also remove all files from C:\Windows\profiles\USERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook and C:\Windows\profiles\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. (They will be recreated when you start Outlook.)

Can the user see the contents of the plain text messages when the item is opened with a double-click?

You could try to change the font for Composing and reading Plain Text messages in Tools - Options - Mail Format - Stationary and Fonts. (For a test, please change the font type and the font color to something different and have a look if this solves the issue.)

You may set the font color back to "Automatic". Due to some reasons it could be "white". This problem is also described here:
