Backups are completing successfully and transaction log files are being flushed, but event id 224 is not being generated in the applications log. I am running exchange 2007 enterprise sp3 rollup 11.

Is this by design or is something wrong?

thank you

Event id 224 is correct for 2007. Check application logs for any db issue. You can try this. Enable circular logging and disable it. Then take backup again. Note you need to restart IS service two times.
