Hi Experts,

Would anyone know how or where I can find information on creating a Joomla template with a dynamic custom module layout from scratch?

What I'm trying to do is create a master template with various module place-holders. This will allow me to drop in different contents, whether it be a logo, login form, banners etc into the required position depending on client's taste and requirements.

I understand it involves modifying the templateDetails.xml file and linking these module positions to the index.php file through coding and that's exactly what I'm looking for, details as to how to code it.

Thanks in advance.
Rick

I think the tutorial is outdated. That was for v1.6. Its version 3 now.

this tutorial seems a bit more up to date, although it's only for 2.5. not sure if that's too outdated for you
