Need to make part of a graphic transparent

Hello Experts, I have a graphic file that I would like to have the background transparent (please see attached)... I'd like all that white background there to be transparent. Is there some software or web site (preferably free!) that would quickly let me convert this white background to transparent?

Thanks!
