How to merge 4 brocade 300 san switch

Hello experts,


I actually have 2 brocade 300 san switch connected to 2 servers clusters and 1 storage.
The 2 brocade san switch have differents zone config



We want to configure 2 new san switch and  merge  them with the 2 san switch already in production.


I want to have the procedures, the risks, the best practices.

Please help me

So you really want to know how to add a second SAN switch to a current SAN switch (and then repeat for the other current one) since dual fabrics are better than one single fabric.

It's pretty straight forwards, check the Domain ID on the current ones through Brocade WebTools, probably both set to 1 as that's default. Set the domain ID of the new ones to something different, e.g. 2. Check under licensing tab in webtools that they have a fabric license* installed else they will not allow inter-switch links (ISLs). Connect them together and job's done.

*Various E-port licenses exist, there's one that allows ISLs to be trunked with multiple ports (but you run out of ports quickly that way), one that allows only a single hop (good enough for you), and one that doesn't allow trunking but does allow multiple hops. If you don't have fabric licenses you can buy them from whoever's badge (IBM, HP etc) is on the front.
