Crystal Reports XI
I have Crystal XI installed on my Windows XP Mode VMCX of my Windows 7 machine.
I have been able to use define dynamic data sources in crystal on this machine with no problem.
When I try to edit a Parameter Fields that is a dynamic data source I get the following error
This parameter uses a dynamic data source. This product version is unable to edit a dynamic parameter.
I have un-installed and re-installed Crystal from v11.5.12.1838 all the way back to v11.0.0.1282 and still no luck.

Yes
WHat do you mean by a dynamic data source?
Is that strictly referring to the parameters?
What is your data source?
Tables, views, stored procedure?
What database?

The data source is MSSQL and it's tables I'm viewing. The only option I have is Static see screen shot attached.

Is this a full CR XI version or an OEM version that came with some application?

Full XI Development Version
I assume you have clicked the static block and the dropdown only shows static.
I assume you are building the report inside the Crystal Designer as a stand alone report and not inside an application IDE.

Your assumptions are correct. Also If you go into a report that has a dynamic data source parameter and click on edit the parameter you get the message "This product version is unable to edit a dynamic parameter"

Interesting. Standard should handle dynamic parameters but it doesn't have the license for building applications for reports.
