Cannot communicate with the LAP database

Hi,

We have moved a server into a virtual environment (virtual box) which runs this software in a browser:

http://www.tassweb.com.au/

it also runs sql databases. SQL is fine IIS is fine and we can get to the login page however on login we get the following message:

Unable to communicate with the LDAP database.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Unfortunately TASSWEB doesn't want to share it's documentation, so lets look at some basics.  It sounds like the infrastructure is all good, but the application itself has a configuration problem.  When the tassweb software was installed, there would have likely have been some choices made for authentication.  Normally, you have the opportunity to use an internal table of users and passwords (stored in the same database), or using another authentication system, frequently LDAP or Active Directory.  (And sometimes Active Directory is used to handle LDAP authenticaton.)

When that authentication was configured, I assume an LDAP source was chosen.  It would have asked for a server or address to use for LDAP requests.  First, confirm that server name/address is correct in the software configuration.  If it asks for a port, make certain you are listening on that port.  TCP/389 would be 'normal', but LDAP can be configured on other ports as well.  If it's asking for LDAPS (LDAP over SSL), it'll frequently ask for TCP/636... in which case you need to ensure that the certificate provided on the LDAP server is acceptable to the web server.

Does that help, or am I going down a path you've already pursued?
