Internet explorer 11 crashes google search

I  updated my browser through Windows Updates to Internet Explorer 11 and now Google search windows no longer display properly. I get a string of characters on the left side of the screen as soon as I type more than one word into Google’s search dialog box.

I have a Windows 7 ultimate 64bit OS.

Changing the compatibility mode settings as recommended through searching for fixes did not work. I think this fixe probably worked fine for Windows 8

Can I go back to the previous version until the dust settles?

This is driving me crazy and I don't have time to really work it on my own this time.

Thank you,

I don't recall - does the system restore only affect programs and settings? I'll have to check my restore points.

If an uninstall actually works and takes me back to the previous version, I suspect this might be my best alternative unless soemone help me make it Google freindly. I'm not finding it anywhere in reference to Windows 7.

Success! :)

Thank you jcimarron so much for saving me lots of time in research.

Your instructions for uninstalling the update worked perfectly.

My last restore point would have affected too many programs. I'll have to add that to my weekly backup regimen.

I've been paying for this membership for years - it just paid off in spades. No BS, I like that!

Shame on Microsoft for not being Google friendly! :(

Looks like you get all the points. Again, thank you very-very much.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Having a competent level of understanding, I knew there was not an established solution for making Internet Explorer 11 compatible with Google in Windows 7. This solution saved me a lot of time I would have spent researching it myself. If I don't use this service again, it just paid for itself!

I even feel compelled to help out when I do have more time.

Thank you! :)
