Best Laptop Warranty

I am thinking about purchasing a laptop the Sony Vaio FIT SVF15A18CXB from Best Buy. What I was wondering is, which is the better warranty the Geek Squad warranty from Best Buy or Square Trade warranty? I see that there is a previous post on this subject on here, but it is from 2011 and these warranties have changed since then.

Square Trade and Geek Squad cover more or less the same things, but Geek Squad is supported by the store, so it may provide additional convenience if you need to redeem the warranty.

Remember you have Sony's warranty, which includes 1 year I believe, but you have to ship it to them.  Geek Squad's may overlap that warranty, so be sure to ask them about that as well - specifically when their warranty starts and ends.

I have so far depended on the one (1) year warranty by the manufacturer for all my laptops, and, fortunately did not suffer any ill-effects yet. The Sony Vaio that I purchased from Best Buy in 2008(2009?) is still going strong, although it's not the only computer I use.

Just another data point, another option to consider.

If you are inclined to have a warranty, however, for any reason, it's preferable to have a local (Geek Squad) one.

If you want the best warranty, then buy a Dell Laptop. You can get up to 5 years.

Is there a warranty offered that just covers accidents and spills? I that Geek Squad sells a technical support do you know of anyone else that offers it.
