Text messages sent/received multiple times

Hi Experts!

I have this problem every once in awhile where my phone sends the same text message twice, three times, maybe more. When this is happening, the person I am texting with also sends texts to me a lot of times as well.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 (SIII), Verizon service Android OS and I am currently experiencing this with text exchanges with someone who is using an iPhone, on AT&T.

BrittTheBrat,

This is a complex issue. When a text message is sent, an acknowledgement is returned from the recipient to let the system know the text went through. Otherwise, it continues to attempt delivery at a later time (if the phone is off, for example, we want the text to get delivered later). When you are within your own network (Verizon to Verizon, for example), that usually works pretty well, However, across systems (Verizon to AT&T, for comparison), it's a lot more likely for the acknowledgement to get lost. Compounding that is that sometimes, there are issues with the sending or receiving on the phone itself.

Some suggestions:
1) Look to see if there are patterns of when the repeats happen (when sender or recepient are in areas with poor coverage, for example).
2) If you are using any other App than the stock messaging app to send/receive texts, make sure it's up to date.
3) Clear your cache of text messages (this WILL delete all your old texts, be aware of that).
4) Check with your provider, they may have some trouble-shooting ideas or fixes for you.

Cheers,
LHerrou

Displaying an arrayList in a listView using the default adapter is rarely the best solution. To get full control of your display data, and to be able to refresh it after editing, requires the use of a custom adapter.
