I am trying to use Outlook by configuring an IMAP account.

But I am not really sure what to enter in Incoming mail server and outgoing mail server.

I tried the same name as the one displayed when I connect outlook as Mapi client, but did not work

I ran nslookup
set type=mx
mydomain.com
it showed the MX servers, I typed them both in the incoming/outgoing mail server , it did not work

from outside the network, I also :
I ran nslookup
set type=mx
mydomain.com
it showed the MX server, which is from sprint.com

it did not work.

I am not sure where to get the right smtp server to configure IMAP

Any help?

Thank you

Hi,

Here is how to configure IMAP for exch 2010: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691401(v=exchg.141).aspx

And here is an example of configuring an IMAP client to connect to exch 2010: http://www.uml.edu/it/documents/Thunderbird_IMAP_Configuration.pdf

i did configure IMAP on the server as well as on the Client, but it does not connect.
in incoming/outgoing server…….I copied the same server nme as regular Mapi outlook is configured with but does not connect.
I also put the Ipaddress of exchange server , and still did not connect…
I put smtp.company.com , did not connect.
I can tenet to port 399 ,25

can you tell me what is the best method to find out the incoming/outgoing server?
I used the nslookup to get which server MX records are pointing to,and put them in incoming/outgoing fields, but still did not connect.

I believe our smtp server is Linux…not window
So I am not sure if it has to be configured to accept IMAP or just windows exchange server needs to be configured to accept IMAP, though it is by default…and it has IMAP service running

The curse of the end user strikes again

You’ve updated all your end user’s email signatures. Hooray! But guess what? They’re playing around with the HTML, adding stupid taglines and ruining the imagery. Find out how you can save your signatures from end users today.

I have been playing with IMAP account settings…Half of the solution is found:

Incoming email server : this fails
Outgoing Email Server(SMTP): this one works

Now I am not sure why it fails, and I am not sure how to find out the correct Incoming Email server

These two links will explain better than me, what you need:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691401(v=exchg.141).aspx

For the next one go down to "User Settings to Configure POP3 or IMAP4 Access to Their Exchange 2010 Mailboxes": http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124107(v=exchg.141).aspx
