Exchange 2010 SMTP Authentication

Exchange 2010 SMTP Authentication

We have Exchange 2010 in the network, I am using Thunderbird to connect using IMAP.

I can send email through Thunderbird IMAP , only if I select Authentication "None" for
Outgoing Server (SMTP).

If I select a different type of authentication , I cannot send email

I am not sure how to fix it ?

Thank you

Typically outbound SMTP there is no authentication (Receiving is where the authentication takes place).  This all depends on how your exchange is setup.

Well.. without Authentication, I can send using Thunderbird from my company email account to another email account inside the company ..
but if I try  to send outside ...I get the error:

An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded 5.7.1 unable to relay....
