Excel default email

In Excel 2010, when I click on an email address, it opens Windows Live Mail, which I normally don't use. Instead, I want Gmail to open automatically.

I can't find a way to change the default. How do I do it?

Thanks,
John

If you only access your GMail account via web browser, there is no way I know of to do this.
If you set your GMail account up in an actual Email Client, then you can do it. Since you have Windows Live Mail, you can create an email account for the GMail there and all will be fine. You can still access GMail via web browser or with WLM.

I am also certain this happens everywhere except for the browser you open GMail in.

I access Gmail only through a browser (Chrome).

If I set up Gmail as a client, are my messages synced locally and on their server, or are they still only on their server?

I hate the idea of having any connection with Windows Live Mail. Is there a way of doing it independently?

You can setup most mail clients to leave the mail on the server with a number of options...

You can try another mail client. I use Mozilla Thunderbird from time to time when I need to test something. It is free. I use Outlook mostly but isn't free. There are hundreds of clients out there to choose from, just depends on what you need to accomplish.

I agree WLM is not very appealing.

I think I'll stick with my present setup. Thanks for the education.
