Cannot control when updates occur - pc connected to Small Business server 2008

I have a HP ML350 G5 server running Small Business server 2008.  There  are 4 pc's connected to the domain.  Three are running Windows 7 Pro.   I cannot control when Windows updates occur on the Windows 7 pc.  I suspect there is a gpo controlling this behavior.    Right now when the updates are installed it conflicts with the backup.

What must be done to allow the connected pc's to control when updates are downloaded?

take a look at one of those 4 and open windows update
see if it says "managed by your system administrator"

if so, then you do have a GPO in place
take a look at this article in the second section on configuring update schedule

if it doesn't say that, click on "change settings" on the left and you can change the options there
