dear gurus

i m using w2k8r2 with sp1

i created 1 master folder, where there are subfolder, and files inside.

so when i give permission of admin, and user group they are found inside subfolder->more subfolder-> files , has no permission. specially user group

so say the permission given on master/parent folder are not "Inherited permissions" from parents subfolder and files. this is not working properly

can someone advise on this

If you are trying to create permission on top folder and then applied to all files and sub-folders, what you need to to do is go to the property for the folder, security tab, click on advanced, check box that refers to apply permissions to files and sub-folders.

this is what you said working for admin not for user group
as for user group or user, it apply upto folder or sub folder level butinside the files remain lock
it keep lock or hide files from user view
