Extranet - MOSS 2007 documents open read only

Hi all,

I just took over as an administrator and the company has Sharepoint MOSS 2007 and users are now using extranet to upload files. Users have full permissions on the subsite and document library and when they open any document it is being opened as read only even though they have full permissions. Any ideas why?

They told before that before going live to Extranet and they were using Intranet everything worked fine, the document library has the option Require documents to be check-out before they can be edited.

Your help is much appreciated.

Regards,

Hi,
can they still access the intranet url? Is the behaviour there the same?

I guess it is simply an IE setting - to protect the client when opening "external"/Internet content.
Can you try (e.g. with one user) to add the extranet url to the IE "Trusted Sites" zone (or even to the local intranet zone)?

HI Rainer,

The intranet is not accessible any more since it has been migrated to SharePoint 2013 but Extranet remained on MOSS 2007,  yes the extranet url is in the truested site zone even in the local intranet zone on a different pc and same results.
