Make external IP address available inside a network

I recently assigned an IP address to one of my websites (which is also https) in IIS. I noticed I can only access the secure IP address from outside the network. Is there a way to configure IIS so that I can access the IP address from inside the network without having to change to the server name, i.e., https://servername/ instead of https://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx?

If you are running your own dns server (split), you can set the resolution of the URL to be on your LAN instead of a WAN ip.

And if I'm not running my own DNS server?

Well for a particular pc you can place the entry in the hosts file on that system. But that will work only for that one pc in which you make the change. If you only have a few, this could do the job.
