Hi,

I need to open some QPW files. My understanding, these files were created using Corel QuattPro software. I have installed Corel Wordperfect suite 8(on Win XP) which has Quattropro 8. But, I cannot open those QPW files using QPro8. Getting error - "Cannot open file ...."

When I am creating a new file using Quattpro8, it is creating a file with extension -wb3. So, I need either find out how to open those qpw files using Quattropro software or a different  software that opens qpw files.

Any help/suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Problem is, QPW is from a later version of Quattro Pro than version 8 (QPW is from v9 and higher). Like many products, Quattro Pro has changed the extension that it uses for its files over the years. It is currently QPW, but previous versions have used WB3, WB2, WB1, WQ2, WQ1 (in reverse chronological order). While newer versions of the program can open older versions of the files, older versions of the programs often cannot open newer versions of the files (for the same reason, Excel 2003 cannot open XLSX files and Word2003 cannot open DOCX files, unless the compatibility pack is installed). So you need to convert the QPW files into a format that your v8 can handle, such as WB3, or you need to get a program that can handle your QPW files, such as Quattro Pro 9. Btw, I'm pretty sure that the link posted above by dpsully07 will not handle QPW files...it will handle only up to WB1 files.  Regards, Joe
