Blip sound

My computer keeps making a blip sounds every few seconds.  I acts like a virus.  I have done scans and cleanup and still get this annoying sound every few seconds.

My first suspicion would be a temperature alarm. Check the cooling fins and fans for being loaded up with dust, or a broken/loose bracket holding the heat sink against the CPU.
I would boot to a cd operating system instead of booting to windows on the hard drive. For example run the ultimate boot disc, if the noise occurs when running applications on the UBD then you know the problem is hardware related. If it does not occur when running the UBD then there could be something in windows that is causing the noise such as a virus.
record the sound and post it here

you can also check if anything is selecting that sound in your system sounds

if this arose recently, a system restore also helps you out

I found solution before coming back to Experts-Exchange to check for answers. I suspect the wireless keyboard battery ran low which would account for the increased frequency of the beeping.  Please remove my points for this solution.  I don't believe I should get credit for solving my own problem.
