Hello,

I read recently that the new .UK domain will come out next year. Does anyone know when these will be avaliable to buy specifically and whether for organisations or alike you can reserve names in advance of release?

regards,

Don't know what you were reading but '.uk' belongs to a special class called 'ccTLDs' which belong to countries.  You can't directly register a domain in that ccTLD.

However, here is an article about changing that but it does not give a date: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-25006066

I think the wiki article does not refer to the pure use of '.uk' with 'name.uk' for example, however the BBC News article does. May be it is too early to say when they will be available!?

Are you able to reserve the names in advance at all? or do you have to wait for general sale and hope someone does not take your organisations domain name?

I don't know.  I didn't see anyone advertising anything about it so probably not.  At least not yet.
