Lync Mobile Error

Customer has hosted cloud based Office 365 and is using Lync. On a desktop or a laptop, users can connect to Lynch just fine, both from the internal network and externally from 3rd WIFI. However, the users have Android phones and are unable to connect from the mobile client.
When trying either the Lync 2010 or the Lync 2013 client from the google Play store, they get the same error: "This version of Lync has been blocked by your system administrator. Please check for updates or contact your support team".
At first we thought this was a version conflict, but it occurs with both versions of the mobile client.
